- I went to UVA for graduate school after the Olympic year because I figured who's going to hire a dumb jock? I got into datacenters during my internship in 1997 and then ran the East Coast high-tech center of excellence for the world’s largest real estate company. We had an amazing team in Northern Virginia and Dallas that served some of the biggest clients in data centers. We had companies like Microsoft, Computer Associates, Oracle, Lawson and many more. I realized data centers had not changed in a generation and in order to benefit from the Internet and large scale computing clients didn't have to own hardware and software.
- In 1999 I founded what was one of the first cloud hosting companies ever – ServerVault. The company raised over $30 million in venture capital and debt and had cutting edge, proprietary data centers in the United States and Europe. The company patented novel ways of making data centers more secure and efficient. It was sold in 2002 to a private equity firm and its platform is the basis for one of the largest cloud providers still today in 2024. We were way ahead of our time.
- In 2003 I adopted technology developed at MIT to create ODIN technologies, a pioneer in the radio frequency identification (RFID) space. ODIN earned the leadership position in RFID software and services, winning the US President’s award for innovation and being granted more than 30 patents. We created a machine learning platform in 2003 and that started my first foray into Artificial Intelligence. I even wrote about it in my book RFID for Dummies.
- ODIN won the biggest contracts in RFID at the time, for the US Department of Defense, Airbus, J&J, Mayo Clinic, Vail Resorts and many more. Soon the company developed novel systems of communication and computing including their own SaaS software, ASICs and communication chips. ODIN also created a novel system for Vail Resorts called EpicMix that is now in use in over 40 ski areas world wide. Other clients included Johnson and Johnson, Airbus, Smith & Nephew, Mayo Clinic, Ford, and many others. The company was sold in 2012.
- In 2013 Patrick founded dwinQ, a live-event social media company, which enabled live social interation at the London Olympics and had clients like Facebook, Twitter, Molson, Formula 1, Nissan and others.
- In 2020 he released the book Fear is Fuel- the surprising power to find passion, purpose and peak performance which hit #5 on the Wall Street Journal Best Seller list in March of 2020. He’s completed two TEDx talks, and the #1 Talk at Google for 2018.
- In 2017 I started gambling, sorry investing, in crypto currency and researching blockchain technology. In 2021 i began mining Bitcoin but with an altruistic goal in mind – I wanted to help avert a climate disaster by mining bitcoin. This “moonshot” idea is counter to what many people think but is already creating a faster adoption of renewable energy. It led me to start DaVinci 3.0.
- I was also fortunate to have a fellowship at the US National War College in Washington, DC
- I've been to has been to Ukraine five times since the war began in 2022.
- I help moderate the YWhales community of Young President’s Organization (YPO) verified CEOs involved in the blockchain spaces.
- I started the Chamonix Crypto Community for local good using blockchain,
- Through the years I've developed 10 patents,
- I got my MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School and a BS from the University of New Hampshire.
- I finished 2nd in the Olympic trials in rowing (single scull).
- I've done several bizarrely fun and painful world-first athletic achievements like climbing to the top of Europes''s highest mountain and bikling down (see picture left), or teaming with a female Red Bull Mountain Biker to go climb up and bike down Mount Kilimanjaro. I've done endurance events on five continents and my favorite so far is the Iditarod Trail Invitational in Alaska. Although winning the Race Across America (RAAM) was a blast.
- I split time between Boston, Milan and Chamonix France.
- I want to ignite potential, build trust and have an impact
